Rain Ravaged Fiji Allows Inbound Flights to Resume

Cyclone Daphne is skirting the western side of Fiji today, bringing even more rain to a country that has seen phenomenal amounts of rain in the last couple of weeks.  Air New Zealand, Qantas, Air Pacific and Virgin are adding capacity and flights as they can so stranded passengers can leave the country as soon as possible.  A ban on incoming passengers was rescinded last night, however, travel to Fiji is being strongly discouraged by the Fijian government, unless it’s absolutely essential.  Over 8000 Fijians are in emergency shelters as the monsoonal rains continue.  Video from the BBC can be found here.  Additional reporting from the Sydney Morning Herald is here and CNN here.
