Know Before You Go:
While the outside bar area at Wang’s gets rave reviews, it is a smoking area because it is outside. However, the seating area directly at the bar on the outside is non-smoking. Wang’s usually has a great happy hour year round, so if you can go early, you’ll be rewarded with great drink and appetizer specials.
It’s not bad, but it is what it is. It reminds you of a standard Chinese restaurant. Tables and booths occupy a large wide open dining room. One plus, is that if you have a larger party, there are quite a few large tables that seat 6 or more.
You can’t complain about the service at Wang’s. Service was very friendly and our food came out in no time. Maybe a bit too fast, but better fast than slow. The restaurant has more than enough staff, so there’s always someone refilling your glass, removing plates and cleaning the table.
You really can’t go too wrong with anything on the Wang’s menu. Wang’s offers mostly standard Chinese fare, with a few twists thrown in. One thing to be aware of is that portions are very large. Unless you’re unbelievably hungry, you could easily share an entree between two people. Even the appetizers are good sized. Drinks here were great and they don’t spare the alcohol. This may be one of the best drink deals in town. We didn’t try desert as we didn’t have room after the large sized entrees.
Wang’s is the place to go if you’re hankering for Chinese food while in Palm Springs. The portions huge, the prices reasonable. This place is busy even in the off season, so make sure you make reservations in advance, unless you don’t mind waiting for a table. Although with the great bar area, you’ll certainly be able to unwind while you wait.
