Atmosphere
The restaurant has a very modern decor with a large bar and lounge area. Extremely large windows open directly out to Banderas Bay allowing a great view of sunsets. In addition to inside seating, there’s also a nice large patio that has a large fire pit area for cooler evenings.
Service
Service matches the quality of the restaurant. Service is very friendly, albeit designed around a “dining experience” vs. a normal meal. For simply drinks and appetizers, you should allow about 1.5 to 2 hours. For dinner 2-3 hours would be normal. Of course, you could always ask for service to be expedited.
Food
All of the food from appetizers to desserts were very good. Dishes are fairly mainstream, with a unique twist. Our favorite was the prosciutto wrapped pork tenderloin. The pork was done to perfection and it was a great balance of tastes. The menu is semi-limited, with about 4-5 entree choices Appetizers were limited to two salads and a soup. The corn bisque was excellent. Prices are on the high-side for the area, but worth it. One oddity, was that there weren’t any mexican entree’s on the menu.
Overall
We liked Blanca Blue. Even though the quality of the food was great, there is still great food less than 10 minutes away for about 20-30% less. Also, the lack of entrees that feature mexican flavors and inspiration surprised us for the quality of the restaurant. The sunset views can’t be beat, even if you’re just going for drinks.
[box type=”info” ]Blanca Blue is located inside of the Garza Blanca Resort about 10 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta. Also, check out the $6000 toilets in the rest rooms.[/box]
