On our last trip to Napa, we visited some wineries that were “off-the-beaten” path. One of those was Saddleback Cellars. We learned about them while we were at a tasting at Merryvale winery. We asked what other wines they liked other than their own and Saddleback was the one. With that advice in hand, we put it on our “must visit” list. We weren’t disappointed. If you like Zin’s, this is the winery for you. That’s not to sell short their other wines, but the Zin’s really are tops. We just got a notification that their 2007 Old Vine Zinfandel is 25% off through the end of September, plus you’ll get free shipping. Now, we’ve tried the ’04 and ’05 and loved them. I’m sure the ’07 won’t disappoint. Here’s the description from their website: “2007 Old Vine Zinfandel – Fruit comes from two old vineyards: one in Calistoga 86 years old; the other in Russian River, over 120 years old. Full-bodied with wonderful aromas of cherries, spices and cigar box. Opulent, jammy black fruit flavors.”. Don’t miss out, check it out here.
