March Playlist

This month, we’re highlighting some great new songs that we’ve downloaded in the past couple of weeks.  Here’s our choices for March:

We’d been searching for this song for months, ever since we first heard it on a commercial for the new BMW X3.  Julian Williams-Move Your World is a fantastic song.  No matter what your musical taste is, give it a listen and see what you think.

Can the Freemason’s do anything that isn’t great?  From remixing music from artists like Beyonce, Kelly Rowland and others to creating their own, they’ve outdone themselves again.  Quickly climbing the UK charts, Believer by the Freemasons w/ Wynter Gordon will have you on your feet in no time.

Our March list wouldn’t be complete without a look backwards into the 80s.  One of our favorite oldies is Don’t Disturb this Groove by The System.  Reaching #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1987, it was a tune you couldn’t soon forget.  While this was one of their best known songs, they also had many others including many featured on the past TV series Miami Vice.  Victoria Beckham cut her version of the song in 2003 that went to #3 on the UK charts.  Unfortunately, iTunes no longer offers that song.

Playlist #3 – February 2010

Our Song – The Spill Canvas – I’m not quite sure why this song never took off when it was released in Spring of 2010.  Just another great song from a highly under-rated band.

Stand by the Jams – The KLF – From their 1991 album, The White Room and featuring vocals from the late Tammy Wynette.  The song was #11 on the US Billboard Chart and #1 in 18 countries.

Heaven Help Us – Deon Estus –  While this song was popular in 1989, it wasn’t available on iTunes until the past few months.  Deon Estus was a bassist for Wham!, followed by a long stint with George Michael, who sang background vocals on this song.  The song was as high as #5 on the Billboard Singles chart.

Playlist #2 – October 2010

Valley Lodge – All of My Love – We ran across this song cruising through iTunes one day.  Valley Lodge is a NYC based band with a very distinctive sound.  Give it a listen.

The Maine – RIght Girl – This song is from their second full-length album entitled, Black & White.  The Maine is a band from Tempe, AZ.

Gin Blossoms – Wave Bye Bye – The Gin Blossoms are back again with another album entitled “No Chocolate Cake”.  It’s been awhile since the Gin Blossoms have hit the Billboard charts with “Found Out About You”.  But rest assured, their back.

Playlist #1 – September 2010

Matisse – Better Than Her

We first heard this song about three months ago on Sirius 36.   Formerly part of UK pop duo Brit and Alex, Brit is now Matisse.  This is her debut single “Better than Her“.

The White Tie Affair – You Look Better When I’m Drunk

This song release early this spring, is probably one of the catchiest songs of the summer.  Well, that was probably before Katy Perry started releasing songs from her new album.  Check it out.

The Verve – Lucky Man

Although this song is from 1997, I just recently ran across this as it played during the end credits on a Season 5 episode of Entourage.  It was originally from The Verve’s third album, “Urban Hymns”, but also appears on their greatest hits CD as well.  It was their second Top 20 hit in the US and reached #7 on the UK Singles Chart.
