Know Before You Go:
Blanca Blue is located inside of the Garza Blanca Resort about 10 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta. Also, check out the $6000 toilets in the rest rooms.
Atmosphere
Rating:

The restaurant has a very modern decor with a large bar and lounge area. Extremely large windows open directly out to Banderas Bay allowing a great view of sunsets. In addition to inside seating, there’s also a nice large patio that has a large fire pit area for cooler evenings.
Service
Rating:

Service matches the quality of the restaurant. Service is very friendly, albeit designed around a “dining experience” vs. a normal meal. For simply drinks and appetizers, you should allow about 1.5 to 2 hours. For dinner 2-3 hours would be normal. Of course, you could always ask for service to be expedited.
Food
Rating:

All of the food from appetizers to desserts were very good. Dishes are fairly mainstream, with a unique twist. Our favorite was the prosciutto wrapped pork tenderloin. The pork was done to perfection and it was a great balance of tastes. The menu is semi-limited, with about 4-5 entree choices Appetizers were limited to two salads and a soup. The corn bisque was excellent. Prices are on the high-side for the area, but worth it. One oddity, was that there weren’t any mexican entree’s on the menu.
Overall
We liked Blanca Blue. Even though the quality of the food was great, there is still great food less than 10 minutes away for about 20-30% less. Also, the lack of entrees that feature mexican flavors and inspiration surprised us for the quality of the restaurant. The sunset views can’t be beat, even if you’re just going for drinks.
Know Before You Go:
Service
Everything here was fantastic. It’s primarily regional mexican, but you won’t have any trouble finding anything here. For dinner, we loved the roasted fruit salad, chorizo stuffed chicken breast and the stuffed poblano pepper with candied pomegranate seeds. On our second visit we went back for brunch, which is served buffet style from 8AM – 2PM every day. There are many choices, including freshly made tamales, green chili pork, queso enchiladas, refried beans, huevos and much more. For around $10US, it’s a great value.
Casa Isabel is located on one of the steep hillsides of Puerto Vallarta. If you’re walking, be prepared for a steep climb the last 200 yards. If you’re taking your own car, there is minimal parking available and area to turn around near the top is extremely limited. Also be aware that since Casa Isabel is “open air”, smoking is allowed in the restaurant.
You can’t beat the view from Casa Isabel. Because of its perch high on the hillside of Puerto Vallarta, you have great views of the city and the Banderas Bay day or night. You have a great view of the nightly fireworks from here. Otherwise, the atmosphere is very tropical tiki bar. The bar portion of the restaurant has a bank of big screen tv’s so it’s very crowded during popular sporting events.
