As with many restaurants in DC, you’ll definitely want to make a reservation.  Without one, you’ll either be sitting at the bar or waiting a couple of hours to get in.

Atmosphere
The restaurant is very open and very contemporary.  Large floor to ceiling windows give you great views of the outdoors as you sit at your table.  Being a Jose Andres restaurant, this place is always busy.  With the concrete floor and sleek furnishings, this is not a place to have quiet conversation.  The noise factor can be rather high during peak hours.

Service
It’s hard to describe the service here.  It’s definitely fine and fairly attentive, but the servers make it seem like it’s a chore and they really don’t want to be here.  It’s not unfriendly, just kind of disconnected.  Almost like they can’t wait to get off work and go do something else.

Food
We’ve traveled Greece and Turkey and the food here is spot on authentic.  From the tzatziki and tabouleh to the lamb and the shish, it’s all very good.  Zaytinya is geared towards small plates, so you can try a lot of different dishes and share with friends as well.  Prices are average and portions are reasonably sized.

Overall
If you’re looking for great Mediterranean food in DC, this is your place.  Jose Andres is well known for creating great quality food and he doesn’t disappoint here.
