Etta’s occupies a long time spot on the Seattle dining scene. Located diagonally from the north end of the Pike Place Market, it’s easy to find and a great place to people watch from a window side table. The space is large, with banquettes and tables. No matter where you sit, you have a decent view out the windows towards the street and water.
Service here was great. Our server was very friendly, conversational and knew the menu well. When we visited in May, we started with a Rhubarb Margarita that was a unique twist on a bar staple. In fact, we had a couple they were that good.
Things not to be missed are the Dungeness Crab Jalapeno dip, raw oysters on the half shell, captains seafood platter and dungeness crab cakes. The crab cakes here are all crab. No fluff, no fillers. Crispy on the outside and ample sized, two crab cakes easily make a meal. Desserts are supplied by Dahlia Bakery, as they are at most Tom Douglas restaurants. We opted for the Peanut Butter Bar, which was light, airy and was perfect. We also had the Rhubarb Strawberry Crisp, which was good, but not nearly as good as the Peanut Butter Bar.
While the restaurant appears to be a bit “tired”, it was packed the night we were there and everyone looked like they were having a good time. The quality of the seafood was excellent. If anything, the menu isn’t large, but there’s plenty of choice for most people. While there would be other places in the area that we’d eat at first, you definitely won’t be disappointed by Etta’s.
