Probably one of the best cups of coffee not only in New York City, but in the US.  With five locations throughout Manhattan, you have to make time to stop by.  You’ll often find “Joe”, aka Jonathan Rubinstein behind the counter at the Waverly Place location in the Village making his latte creations.  This is a far cry from your local Starbucks.  While you won’t find the “venti raspberry-pumpkin-2% soy – no foam, 162.5 degree mocha carmelatto” at Joe’s, you will find the smoothest, best-tasting espresso, coffees and lattes.

The Waverly Place location is at the corner of Waverly & Gay St in the Village.  It’s a simple, small location with around 8 tables and a couple more on the front patio.  You’ll want to get here early, to avoid standing very long in line.  They have a nice selection of muffins as well as the largest glaze donuts you’ll find everywhere.  It’s a very “neighborhood” atmosphere and the service is friendly and efficient.  If you choose to have your coffee in-house, you’ll need to “bus” your own table.  We highly recommend you drink you’re coffee in house to savor the ambience.  Joe gets a full 5 stars from us.
